Prototyping and Iterating

I needed a high-impact, cost-effective light effect to go with my VJ setup. Turns out "Tube Guards" for fluorescent lights (what are these even for?) fit snugly into 1-1/4" PVC fittings. A quick trip to the plumbing aisle, some RGB LED strip, and a strenuous sanding job leaves me with this prototype:

I doubled up the RGB LED strip, so it's very bright. Cost is only about $25 per tube, minus control hardware. I have Arduino and a dozen DMX shields for that. I'll keep iterating.
